One of the most talented producers and dj's within the electronic sphere is the american ex-drummer - Steven Ford aka Bruno Pronsato. He recently gave it up for Residentadvisor with an excellent live set (download here) and some years ago he released the much respected album "Why Can't We Be Like Us" which is quite a journey into minimal electronic music with a twist of percussion and hand claps instruments. Lovely.

Besides working as a producer and dj he also runs a label named "Thesongsays". On this label he releases some really nice stuff - three EP's so far. For quite some time I been diggin Benoit & Sergio - What I've Lost. The EP is described as "romantic techno" and is featuring some beautiful vocals combined with a pop influenced beat. Cool!

QR CODES

Through my job as a digital consultant I came across QR codes, which is the initialism of Quick Response, a few times. A QR Code is a matrix barcode (or two-dimensional code), readable by QR scanners, mobile phones with camera, and smartphones. The code consists of black modules arranged in a square pattern on white background and the information encoded can contain website URL’s, phone numbers, e-mail addresses, and other personal messages or data.

QR Codes was created by Toyota subsidiary Denso-Wave in 1994 and the QR code is one of the most popular types of two-dimensional barcodes and it's widely used in primarily Japan and Asia - but because of the rising use of smartphones and mobile phones with integrated camera the use and potential with QR codes or mobile tags are to be seen everywhere in the public space, advertising campaigns, events, museums, super markets and so on. The potential is huge - and eg. Calvin Klein has already used QR codes in a marketing campaign. QR codes can be used both in offline or online marketing campaigns - I guess the only barrier is your creativity.

Writer and illustrator Jessica Hagy has since 2006 been running a blog named thisindexed.com. The blog reduces the rich pageantry of life to small venn diagrams and bar graphs that graphically and very funny highlight absurdities in life. The blog started out as minor project, but today it is receiving quite some attention from visitors all over the world.

Visit the blog here if you are looking for a diagrammed laugh: www.thisisindexed.com

HEINEKEN - WALK IN FRIDGE

Watching the World Cup in football is great. Watching the commercials between the matches is not great. The commercials lacks in terms of quality and humour. Except one: Heineken - Walk in Fridge. I believe its brilliant and spot on. A lot of men would die for such a walk in fridge.

Watch the Heineken - Walk in Fridge commercials here:

SUPERPITCHER AND CHARLOTTE GAINSBOURG

Superpitcher is one of my alltime favourites DJs from Germany. Rumours says that his new album released on Kompakt records, which is coming out shortly, is truly amazing. If you cannot wait you can catch Superpitcher and his partner in crime - Michael Mayer at this year Distortion Festival in Copenhagen. They are going to rock the entire place!

Anyways. Superpitcher is also a great remixer - and his newest remix is not a long shot. It is a really cool interpretation of Charlotte Gainsbourg's track The Operation. Pretty cool.

COPENHAGEN MARATHON 2010

The last three years I have been running Copenhagen Marathon. This year my training has not been optimal since I started out training to late - at least if you want to run a fast marathon and beat your personal record (3.10 in 2008). Anyways - the weather was nice and Copenhagen Marathon has developed a lot - the amount of participants increases year by year. This year 12.644 runners had signed up -  but only 9.847 made it to the start and 9.141 completed the race. I thought it was a great run this year - new route and okay weather - and a lot more people in the streets cheering and making a nice atmosphere.

Compared to the last year I had another running strategy. I tried to run - negative split - which is a marathon where you run the last part faster than the first part. I ran the first 21.1 km. in 1.41 and the last part in 1.48 and managed to cross the finish line in 3.27. Not my best marathon - but on the other hand I was fresh and could actually walk after the run. Great!

50 TWEETS ON ORNHOLT.DK

Posted by: Søren in This website

You can it call it superficial and lazy. You can call it spot on and cool. I talk about my newest integration on www.ornholt.dk. I call it 50 tweets and it is all about what I tweet about. I spend a lot of time on Twitter and thought it would be cool to integrate my 50 latest tweets on my website. My tweets are of course not as long as a blog post - and not as descriptive - but can be as useful as an entire blog post (stripped down minimalism). I became a fan of making small updates instead of writing "long" blog post. The digital revolution with iPhone + 3G netiworks makes it possible to "connect" to the world in few seconds - and few words. Very convenient. I like!

Tweets, off course, cannot replace blog post in terms of length and content - but they can give you a short update - and it is fast to tweet it. So here goes the point: From now on I will tweet about "small things" - and write blog post about "big things". I also integrated the same feature on my iPhone website. Check it out here.

20 OUTSTANDING JOOMLA! WEBSITES

Joomla! CMS has in many ways been outperformed by Wordpress and Drupal when it comes to the amount of minimal and aesthetic websites found on the internet. Joomla! CMS is mainly used for communities and website portals - where the website works as an information portal whereas you see many Wordpress based websites in categories like fashion, design and lifestyle magasins and blogs. I believe Joomla! has more functionality and outperforms Drupal if we are talking an user-friendly backend and easy learning curve, but when it comes to beautiful front end and design Joomla! seems to be the loser - because there is a not a lot of beautiful Joomla! based websites out there.

Designers and people working with aesthetic normally choose another platform than Joomla!. And I guess it is because you experience so many bad designed and "more is more" Joomla! websites out there. Keeping things simple and clean is not a first priority for many Joomla! programmers and designers - which is of course a big mistake.

UNHAPPY HIPSTERS

It is no secret I rather live in a hipster home than a no hipster home. But according to the very satirical blog Unhappy Hipsters - hipsters are not happy. The blog, Unhappy Hipsters underline their point taking images from the architecture and design magazine Dwell, and interpret the emotional states of the people in the photos.

The point is: Why are these hipsters so unhappy when they live in fancy modern design houses and apartments - which is supposed to make them happy? Anyways - the blog is great fun and the houses pretty cool. Visit the blog here and read more about why hipsters are unhappy in modern houses here.
